EnerGuide numbers are displayed on gas fireplaces and in manufacturers literature by way of an EnerGuide logo which features the Fireplace Efficiency - expressed as a percentage. The higher the number, the more efficient the appliance. EnerGuide ratings were established by the Government of Canada, in consultation with the hearth industry. This uniquely Canadian rating system provides consumers with a clear indication of the unit’s efficiency – which in turn lets you know whether the fireplace is designed primarily for decorative purposes or for heating purposes.
